A visiting delegation from Italy has
revealed to Goal that the former
European champions will arrive in
Kenya on May 25 in readiness for
friendly matches
Italian giants Inter-Milan are
scheduled to visit Kenya on May 25
for a series of friendly matches.
The team will play national team
Harambee Stars and a host of other
local clubs in the country. According
to Fabrizio Lucchesi, the visit by
former European champions is part
of partnership with Football Kenya
Federation to promote youth football
in the country.
“This is a big project and we need
support of everyone especially the
government. FKF cannot do it on
their own and so we ask other
stakeholders to come out and lend a
hand,” Lucchesi told Goal .
FKF President Sam Nyamweya,
admitted that bringing the Italian
giants to Nairobi is a huge
undertaking. He said the visit by the
Italian team is a testimony of their
trust in Kenyan football which he
pointed out is going places.

“I want to pay special tribute to the
Italian football federation and
assure them that we have put down
all measures to ensure that the

Inter Milan have won 30 domestic
trophies in Italy, including the
league 18 times, Coppa Italia seven
times and the Supercoppa Italiana
five times. From 2006 to 2010, the
giants won five successive league
titles, equaling the all-time record.
They have won Uefa Champions
League three times: two back-to-back
in 1964 and 1965 and then another
in 2010, the last completed an
unprecedented (for an Italian team)
continental treble with the Coppa
Italia and Scudetto.
